RE: The tariff classification of Tasimelteon (CAS No. 609799-22-6) in bulk powder form, from Italy
Dear Ms. Heerdt:
In your letter dated April 19, 2017, you requested a tariff classification ruling. We apologize for the delay as the information was sent to our laboratory for analysis.
Tasimelteon is a selective agonist for the melatonin receptors MT1 and MT2. It is indicated for the treatment of non-24-hour sleep/wake disorder.
The applicable subheading for the Tasimelteon in bulk form will be 2937.90.9000, Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States (HTSUS), which provides for “Hormones, prostaglandins, thromboxanes and leukotrienes, natural or reproduced by synthesis; derivatives and structural analogues thereof, including chain modified polypeptides, used primarily as hormones: Other: Other.” The rate of duty will be free.
